Keuka College, located in the Finger Lakes region of central New York, is an independent liberal arts-based college and a national leader in experiential education.  We invite applications for an Assistant Professor of ASL &amp; ASL-English Interpreting.<br />
Position:  Full-time (10 month) tenure-track position (pending budget approval); teaching load of 12 credit hours per semester.<br />
Starting Date: August 16, 2010.<br />
Rank:  Assistant Professor<br />
Responsibilities<br />
•         Teach ASL &amp; ASL-English interpreting courses<br />
•         Participate in curriculum development, assessment, and program planning with the ASL and ASL-English Interpreting Programs Director and colleagues<br />
•         Work closely with the ASL &amp; ASL-English Interpreting Program Director and colleagues.<br />
•         Provide academic advising to students in the major<br />
•         Develop internship and practicum opportunities for pre-service interpreters<br />
•         Participate actively in recruitment and retention of ASL &amp; ASL-English Interpreting students<br />
•         Contribute to the College and Humanities and Fine Arts Division through participation in College and Division functions, activities, committees<br />
•         Demonstrate continuing professional and educational growth and maintain expertise in areas of teaching responsibility<br />
Qualifications:<br />
•         Master’s degree in ASL Linguistics, Interpreting, Deaf Studies, Deaf Education, or related field required<br />
•         Native/near-native proficiency in ASL required.<br />
•         Possession of the ASLTA Certification, Certificate of Interpreting (CI), or NIC from the National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or Certification from the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA).<br />
•         Teaching experience related to ASL, Deaf Studies, &amp; Interpreting programs for at least 5 years at the post secondary level.<br />
•         Skill in establishing and maintaining effective professional/working relationships with faculty and students<br />
•         Leadership &amp; teamwork skills<br />
•         Skill in the use of SANS Sony Soloist and other ASL lab equipment and software<br />
•         Skill in the use of multiple forms of electronic communication, such as pager, email, &amp; VP<br />
Salary:  commensurate with credentials and experience.<br />

•         Video of ASL Skills: The video should begin with a signed introduction (approx. 5-minutes in length) that includes your name, background, your experience teaching ASL &amp; Interpreting in the higher education settings, why you are applying for an Assistant Professor in ASL &amp; ASL-English Interpreting faculty position, and what your teaching philosophy is. Please provide the transcript of your signed information for those who have no ASL skills.<br />
•         Video of Interpreting Skills (Deaf or hearing): You should provide two un-rehearsed segments that include Spoken English to ASL / Deaf Interpreting (5 minutes) and ASL to Spoken English Interpreting / Deaf Interpreting (5 minutes).<br />

<p>The ASAP Full Time Tenure Track Professor of Social Work (ranked) is responsible for teaching domestic undergraduate and graduate courses offered through the Center for Professional Studies (ASAP). Teaching assignments require travel to branch locations throughout Central and Western  New York. The qualified candidate will have expertise and teaching experience in BSW social work curriculum. This position also supports academic program quality and student success through activities such as advising, course and curriculum development, and professional development<strong><em>. </em></strong> The faculty member will:</p>
<p><strong><em> </em></strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Deliver course instruction in traditional,      accelerated, and online formats.</li>
<li>Serve as an advisor to students/cohorts</li>
<li>Coordinate the activities of the student cohort      advisors</li>
<li>Serve as a liaison for student and instructor      concerns</li>
<li>Assist with the recruitment and evaluation of      prospective adjunct instructors</li>
<li>Participate in the ongoing professional      development and evaluation of instructors</li>
<li>Support ongoing curriculum review/revision and      updates</li>
<li>Maintain an active role in continuous quality      improvement activities of the CPS and program area.</li>
<li>Contribute to the College and community through      participation in College functions, community activities, and committee      service</li>
<li>Demonstrate continuing professional and educational      growth and maintain expertise in areas of teaching responsibility</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Specific Responsibilities:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Deliver a teaching load determined by the VPAA,      AVP, and Division Chair. This teaching load may include a variety of      instructional delivery formats including offsite and or online.</li>
<li>Advise students and their cohorts</li>
<li>Coordinate curriculum development and update      activities</li>
<li>Work with the Division Chair and Program Director<strong><em> </em></strong> in the      recruitment and assessment of instructors</li>
<li>Coordinate the practicum field placements of      students in collaboration with the Associate Field Director and in support      of instructor cohort advisors</li>
<li>Collaborate with CPS administration, staff, and      division to ensure program quality</li>
<li>Support the Student Services department in      addressing student issues regarding instruction and college policy and      procedure</li>
<li>Meet other program needs as directed by the Division      Chair, Program Director, and AVP      for the Center for Professional Studies<strong> </strong></li>
<li>Assist the Division Chair in accreditation      processes</li>
<li>Participate in Social Work division meetings and      related activities</li>
<li>Contribute to the College and community through      participation in College functions and community activities</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p>
<p><strong> </strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Minimum of a Masters in Social Work degree (MSW)      from a CSWE accredited program, (Doctorate or ABD preferred) in an      appropriate discipline specific field with appropriate related      professional background</li>
<li>Computer experience with Microsoft Office</li>
<li>Experience with Course and Learning Management      Software in support on online coursework</li>
<li>Excellent planning, communication and      organizational skills</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Ability to work under pressure with a high tolerance for ambiguity</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to work, effectively, with diverse groups of people</li>
<li>Minimum of 5 years experience in teaching non-traditional students in non-traditional, accelerated, online, and other formats</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Academic expertise and      teaching experience in BSW social work education.</li>
</ul>

<p>Keuka College is a private, independent, liberal arts institution located in the Finger Lakes region of New York, with branch campus locations throughout upstate NY. The college is continuously accepting applicants to teach as part-time adjunct instructors for adult degree programs offered in Rochester, Canandaigua, Batavia, Geneva, Auburn, Syracuse, Corning, Elmira and other areas of upstate NY.  Programs include B.S. in Organizational Management, B.S. in Criminal Justice, B.S. in Nursing, M.S. in Nursing, B. S. in Social Work, M.S. in Management and M.S. in Criminal Justice Administration. Applications are invited for the following areas of study:</p>
<p>•    Criminal Justice &#8211; Facilitate courses in criminal justice, abnormal psychology, criminal law, ethnic diversity, leadership and human resources.<br />
•    Social Work &#8211; Facilitate courses in general social work practices, human behavior, ethics and diversity, and substance abuse and families.</p>
<p>Experience in Adult Education preferred. Master’s degree required;  Social Work applicants require a MSW with two years of practice experience. Must possess earned doctorate or JD for graduate level courses.</p>
